Would you like to offer your child(ren) an opportunity to be with you during labor and the birth of the newest member of your family? Our Sibling Doulas can ease the concerns of the child(ren), keep them occupied
while you are in labor and explain to them what is happening with mom as the baby is being born. Your Sibling Doula will meet with you and your child(ren) to prepare them for the birth of their new sibling. She will then be on-call the same as a Labor Doula (from 37 weeks until the birth of the baby) and attend the birth with your child.
We understand some children might be uncomfortable or need a break when labor is running a bit long. We will stay at your home with your child(ren) until you are ready for them to come to the hospital or take your child(ren) to the place of your choice when they need a break. The focus of this service is to provide your child(ren) with the opportunity to share in your birth experience.
Consultations
It is important to choose a doula you and your partner both feel comfortable with. We offer a free consultation (interview) where you can ask the doula questions about her training, experience and doula specialties. The doula will also ask you questions about your child(ren), what you envision at your birth and how she could tailor her skills to meet your needs.
Unique Benefits of The Hopewell Sibling Doula
Before becoming a postpartum doula, Caroline Schleappi (The Hopewell Center’s founder and President) was a professional nanny. Caroline and the other Center staff are very passionate about supporting children while going through this family transition.
Backup Doulas - The Hopewell Center has some of the area's top doulas. You will never be alone because our doulas work in a team. In most cases you will have your doula and the other doulas on staff will be available 24/7 as well.
We also have more resources and more "fringe" benefits than most doulas with an independent practice. See our packages below for more information about these resources and benefits.
